Monthly SIM Security Checklist

Updated 6 October 2026 · 1 min read

A monthly SIM checklist helps you review the connections and recovery accounts you depend on. Keep a short private inventory and follow up on changes, rather than repeatedly using unverified lookup searches.

Monthly SIM checklist: keep a private account inventory

List only what helps you reconcile your connections: operator, purpose, current user and whether you still need the line. Store it privately. Avoid collecting full CNIC scans or OTPs in the checklist.

Review recovery numbers for email, banking and other important accounts when a SIM changes. A cancelled number that remains an account recovery method can create a separate security problem.

Record changes, not just totals

Note a new purchase, replacement, port, transfer or disowning request with its date and receipt or case reference. At the next check, compare the expected change with the operator’s response and the count. Ask support about unresolved differences rather than treating every change as suspicious.

If someone in your household uses a connection registered to you, discuss the appropriate registration arrangement with the operator. Do not rely on a family agreement as proof that the company’s record was updated.

Act on a discrepancy

Contact the company whose account you cannot explain and keep one timeline of your enquiries. Use the complaint checklist if the issue remains unresolved.
